The American Library Association has announced the 2026 winners of the Youth Media Awards, including the Newbery and Caldecott medals, and the Printz award. These are some of the oldest and most prestigious awards in children’s literature; the Newbery and Caldecott medals have been awarded for over 80 years.
The winner of the John Newbery medal for the most outstanding contribution to children’s literature is “All the Blues in the Sky," written by Renée Watson and published by Bloomsbury Children’s Books.
The winner of the Randolph Caldecott medal for the most distinguished American picture book for children is "Fireworks," illustrated by Cátia Chien, written by Matthew Burgess.
