Trefoil Tutors was established in 2011 with a mission to bring a new level of professionalism to tutoring. Providing outstanding teaching and learning and enriching a student’s educational experience are at the forefront of all that we do.

We offer specialist small group tuition for Years 3 to 13, in order to augment and support the teaching that students receive in school.

Our Ethos

Our business is based on three foundational values: Personal, Passionate, Professional.

Personal

Being a tutor at Trefoil Tutors goes far beyond providing a platform for outstanding teaching and learning. Our tutors are seen as mentors to students as much as they are teachers. Getting to know students and their families during their time with us is a cornerstone of what we hold to be important and is paramount in ensuring we can communicate effectively with our clients.

Passionate

At Trefoil Tutors, we are equally committed to sharing our subject knowledge as well as our love of the subjects we teach with our students. Making lessons dynamic, interesting and engaging helps us develop an enjoyment of the subject and promote life-long learning in our students. We are unashamedly geeky!

Professional

All too often, tutoring is seen as an additional job. Our team see tutoring differently - we approach it as a vocation in itself. We aim to professionalise all we do, both with regards to our tutoring and our administrative procedures. We use the exceptionally high standards of top Independent and Grammar Schools as the benchmark we hold ourselves to.

PARENT TESTIMONIAL - DANIYAL AND ZAYD’S MUM

Connor, Sept. 19, 2023

We are delighted to share with you the positive feedback contributed by the parents of students who have attended our group lessons and found these enjoyable and beneficial to their learning.

“Ideally, I would say 11+ preparation is a two year journey. With our elder son, Daniyal, we didn’t have a choice because we’d moved from Singapore, so he started in Year 5, and I know that if Daniyal had started in Year 4 he would have done even better than he did. They are young children - you can’t cram it all in, in one year. The lessons are very structured, and Daniyal did the Summer Lessons in August as well for both English and Maths - that was very, very helpful. The Summer Lessons are intense, they are tailored towards students practising past papers and they are coming two days a week for each subject. Additionally, it’s in August so the timing is really good as well.”

The feedback written in the next fortnight will refer to the first two assignment sheets as well as the first assessment, which will be sat by the tutees this week. Our Director of Studies, Rebecca, then shares her advice as students revise for their first assessment this academic year. Have a great week, everyone, and very best of luck for the Assessment Week!

ASSESSMENT WEEK REMINDER

Connor, Sept. 18, 2023

As we enter Week 3 of the Autumn Term, we would like to remind students that this is the first assessment week of the Term. Students will be sitting a 20-minute assessment in their lessons this week. Some classes will not be given an assessment this week, for example, Reasoning students and some A Level classes. For these classes, a longer assessment will be given in Week 6.

Remember to follow Vivek and Rebecca’s advice in this week’s Senior Tutor Update video and the Welcome Booklet on how best to revise for these assessments!
