INTERNATIONAL CHILDREN’S BOOK DAY!

Hareish, April 2, 2025

Today we celebrate International Children’s Book Day!

International Children's Book Day is a yearly event sponsored by the International Board on Books for Young People (IBBY), an international non-profit organisation. Founded in 1967, the day is observed on or around Hans Christian Andersen’s birthday, 2nd April. Andersen is most famous for writing over 156 fairy tales in his lifetime. His original tales include The Emperor’s New Clothes, The Little Mermaid, The Princess and the Pea, The Ugly Duckling and Thumbelina.

This year’s chosen theme is ‘The freedom of imagination’.

International Children's Book Day (ICBD) is officially sponsored by IBBY-Netherlands and the poster is made by two Dutch creators of children’s books.
