“The best thing about the lessons is that they didn’t get thrown into the deep end – they were told exactly what they were going to do, and everything was well prepared. In some of the questions, their names were used, which was very personal to the children and they enjoyed it. In lessons, they are taught a particular area of Maths, then they answer the questions and then they go over them to ensure they understand – so it is like a very small setting of a classroom. And I think that worked for him: it made him understand the wider picture because he struggled with maths previously.”
