As many parents of Year 6 students will know, following an announcement on the 25th of September, 2020, the dates of the 11+ Entrance Examinations to Haberdashers’ Aske’s Boys’ School and Haberdashers’ Aske’s School for Girls have been moved from January 2021 to the 17th and 18th of December 2020 alongside a change in the exam structure.
In response to this, we are delighted to announce that during the Christmas Break, we will run one tailored mock examination adapted to the revised exam structure of these two schools.
With limited information provided about the content of the revised exam by either school, the aim of the mock examination is not to predict the questions that will be asked but rather help students adopt the right mindset for sitting the new format of the paper.
The tailored mock examination will take place on Tuesday, the 15th of December, at 4:30pm-6:30pm.
Paper structure
Unlike our usual mock examination paper structure, the paper will cover all three subjects and include a selection of Mathematics, English and Reasoning questions. Students will have 1 hour to complete the paper.
The 2-hour-long exam session will contain:
- an introduction to the paper structure by the tutor;
- a brief Q&A session for the students about the 11+ process;
- sitting the 60-minute-long examination;
- a 15 minute break while the tutor marks the papers;
- a review of the paper highlighting common mistakes.
The mock exam will be attended by no more than 6 pupils at a time. The papers will be marked and returned to the students the same day.
About the tutors
The Mathematics section of the paper is written by Vivek Gathani, our lead Mathematics tutor who helped write and mark the 11+ entrance examinations when teaching at Haberdashers' Aske's Boys' School.
The English section of the paper is written by Milda Gathani, our lead English tutor who has been preparing pupils for 11+ entrance examinations to grammar and independent schools since 2013.
The Reasoning section of the paper is written by Rebecca Muhley, our Director of Studies and Reasoning and Science tutor. Rebecca is a qualified teacher with over nine years of teaching experience.
The mock examinations will take place at our premises in Elstree (5 Theobald Court, Theobald Street, WD6 4RN).
Booking your place
The cost of attending a mock exam is £75 (incl. VAT) for one examination.
We are pleased to offer a discounted price of £60 (incl. VAT) per examination to Year 6 students who are currently attending face-to-face or online lessons with us during the Autumn Term.
Places are limited and will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.
