Educational content is broadcast on TV (BBC2 and CBeebies), via BBC iPlayer and online via BBC Bitesize.

Today, we held a set of tailored English, Mathematics and Reasoning 11+ mock examinations adapted to the revised exam structure of the entrance examinations for Haberdashers’ Aske’s Boys’ School, which a number of our students are going to sit this week.

With the 11+ entrance examinations to Independent Schools taking place in the coming months, we would like to remind parents of the final places available in the upcoming mock examinations that will take place in December and January. As we have received a great deal of interest regarding the mock examinations from students who are not attending our lessons, a large number of places in the mock examinations have already been booked.
Places are limited and will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.

At Trefoil Tutors, we recognise the importance of maintaining an ongoing conversation between parents, tutors and students as a key factor in maintaining tutee progress and development. As a very successful Autumn Term comes to an end, we would like to invite parents to book in a meeting to speak to your child’s tutor and discuss their progress throughout the academic year so far. These meetings will build on the personalised feedback the tutors upload to the online portal every week.

We would like to remind parents of our current students that priority registration for the Spring Term is now open and that our current students' places in the lessons are reserved until Sunday, the 6th of December. Please do make sure to book your child's place before this date to ensure continuity of lessons. Any places that are not booked by this date will be offered to students on the waiting list on a first-come, first-served basis.

In this week’s Senior Tutor update, Vivek highlights the importance of students completing corrections during our online lessons. He goes on to emphasise the value of managing students’ confidence, motivation and energy levels during a long half term. Additionally, our Registrar Milda reminds parents that priority registration for Spring Term is now open, with places for our current students reserved until Friday, the 4th of December. Milda emphasises that places will no longer be reserved after this deadline and will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.

In order encourage students to explore different writers, styles and genres, as well as help them develop a love of literature, our lead English tutor Milda has compiled a list of 12 book recommendations for each year group from Year 3 to Year 11. The books on the list range from timeless classics to recent releases. As they go through the list, students will become familiar with the work of world-famous writers and meet iconic book characters.

In this week's update, our Senior Tutor Vivek and Registrar Milda share the various activities they have pursued during the half-term holidays, encouraging students to explore their own interests and combine learning with relaxation. Milda also introduces our new Year 4 Mathematics lessons that will launch after the half-term break due to an increase in demand and reminds parents about the opportunity to use the full year payment discount (available until the 1st of November). Finally, the updated lesson schedule for the Spring Term will be published later this week, which will be of interest to those looking to join our Year 3 Mathematics and English lessons as well as our Year 4 and 5 Reasoning lessons.
