Trefoil Tutors is an awarding-winning tuition provider, recognised as the Best Tuition and Educational Support Provider in the South East region by UK Enterprise Awards and shortlisted by Education Investor Awards. Founded in 2011 with the aim of bringing a new level of professionalism to tutoring in North London, Trefoil Tutors provide group lessons which follow structured courses designed to support and augment the work studied in school as well as help students prepare for 11+, GCSE and A Level examinations.
At Trefoil Tutors, we are incredibly proud of the quality of teaching and learning we deliver across a range of different subjects. In our small group lessons, our team of qualified teachers and experienced tutors aim to augment and support the work done by schools. Students are taught according to a structured scheme of work and are given weekly homework assignments and regular assessments which are all prepared in-house by our tutors, with weekly individual feedback provided to parents via our personalised online portal.
A far cry away from traditional one-to-one tuition, our lessons take place in purpose-built classrooms in our Elstree office where tutors are supported by a full-time administrative team to ensure they can spend their time teaching. All our tutors are qualified teachers or experienced tutors who are subject specialists and have been DBS checked, fully insured and have attended safeguarding courses run at Trefoil Tutors. These are the standards expected at top schools in the country and we firmly believe tutors should hold themselves to the same standards.
Our 11+ course offers Mathematics, English and Reasoning lessons that are designed to prepare students for 11+ entrance examinations to North London’s top Independent and Grammar Schools.
In the 2021/2022 academic year:
- 78% of our 11+ candidates secured a place at their first-choice Independent or Grammar School
- 65% of our 11+ candidates were offered a place at Haberdashers’ Boys’ School
- 67% of our 11+ candidates were offered a place at North London Collegiate School
- 15 of our 11+ candidates were offered scholarships
Mathematics group lessons are taught by our Senior Tutor, Vivek Gathani, a qualified teacher with four years of experience teaching Mathematics at Haberdashers’ Boys’ School. With a PGCE from the University of Oxford and a BSc in Mathematics from the University of Warwick, Vivek has over fourteen years of experience in private tutoring.
Reasoning and Mathematics group lessons are taught by our Lead Tutor of Science and Reasoning, Rebecca Muhley, a qualified teacher with over ten years of classroom teaching experience. This coupled with her experience as an AQA examiner help Rebecca support students to reach the highest outcomes. Rebecca holds a BSc (ARCS) from Imperial College London in Biochemistry.
English group lessons are taught by Milda Gathani, an outstanding full-time tutor with over five years of experience in private tutoring and ten years of working with educational youth charities. Milda has a BA(Hons) in Politics from the University of York and a MSc in Conflict Resolution and Governance from the University of Amsterdam.
