We know that each new academic year comes with a new stack of books. If you find yourself not knowing what to do with your old coursebooks and set texts, we would be more than happy to add the books you no longer wish to keep to our library and give an opportunity for our younger students to use them in their work.

The 22nd of August is an important date in the calendar for all GCSE students waiting to receive their results. Our team of tutors would like to wish the best of luck to all of our students who are opening those envelopes tomorrow morning – we hope all your hard work will bring its rewards!

With the new academic year at Trefoil Tutors starting on the 9th of September, we are delighted to receive so many enquiries from parents looking to register their children for our group lessons in the new academic year.

We would like to remind parents that we are now registering students for the final available places in our Mathematics, English, Economics and Science group lessons. We expect these to fill in the upcoming weeks, with many groups run by Vivek and Milda already full or nearly full. Therefore, if you would like to attend our lessons in the upcoming academic year, please do get in touch with us without further delay to avoid disappointment. We are pleased to continue offering discounts to parents who are signing up more than one child for the lessons and to students looking to attend lessons in more than one subject. We also offer a fixed £200 discount to parents who book their child's place for the full academic year (36 lessons).

The 15th of August is an important date in the calendar for all A-level students waiting to receive their results.

In anticipation of Results Day, we would like to share with you the video our Lead Tutor Vivek Gathani recorded the week before Results Day last year, offering some very useful advice on how to prepare for Results Day and what to do if your results turn out to be better or worse than you had expected.

We are excited to announce that from September, our tutor Meghna will be running Biology group lessons for students in Year 10 and Year 11 who are preparing to sit the Triple Science Award GCSEs. With five years of experience working as a private tutor, Meghna is closely familiar with the new curriculum and offers structured and engaging lessons to students preparing for their GCSE examinations. Meghna holds an Undergraduate degree in Biochemistry from the University of Warwick and a Master’s degree in Early Intervention in Psychosis from King’s College.

The summer holidays are an important time for students to take a break and recharge their batteries – at the same time, parents often worry about academic regression which may make the start of the new academic year harder than expected.

Last summer, we shared a video from our lead tutor Vivek Gathani on managing academic regression. In the video, Vivek highlighted the importance of practising “little and often” in order to stay up to speed with the material studied in the previous academic year. You can watch the video here.

On the 14th of July, we hosted our annual advice evening for A-level students and their parents on the topic of applying to universities and writing a good personal statement. The workshop was run by Vivek Gathani, our lead Mathematics tutor and a former UCAS advisor at Haberdashers’ Aske’s Boys’ School.

The twelve participants of the workshop received advice about the application process and looked into the specifics of writing a good personal statement for their UCAS applications.

As we begin our final week of group lessons this academic year, we would like to congratulate our students for your hard work this year and thank you for your support. We would like to wish all our students and their parents a restful summer break, and look forward to seeing you again in September!

On the 7thof July we were excited to welcome our team of summer interns to an induction session led by Vivek Gathani and Milda Sabunaite, where the interns were introduced to the specifics of their role as well as to the day-to-day work at Trefoil Tutors. The interns will be supporting Vivek and Milda in their preparations for the next academic year. We look forward to seeing you all in August!

We are delighted to announce that for the second year in a row, on the 14th of July, between 6:30pm-8pm, our lead tutor Vivek Gathani will be running a Personal Statement Workshop and UCAS Advice Evening for A-level students who are preparing for their final year. The event is free of charge.

During the event, Vivek will discuss how to structure a Personal Statement both in terms of content and language. Further to this, he will highlight the dos and don'ts of personal statement writing and discuss common pitfalls. The session will conclude with a Q&A session, where students and parents will be able to ask questions about the university application process.

During his time at Haberdashers', Vivek spent the last three years as a UCAS adviser for Mathematics, Computer Science, Business Management, and Accountancy and Finance.

During the last few weeks, we have asked our students’ parents for feedback regarding their experience using our services. We are grateful to have received many responses – thank you for sharing your thoughts with us! We will review these and take your suggestions into account when planning for the upcoming academic year.

As we are approaching the end of the academic year, we hope your child has found our lessons beneficial and enjoyable.

We appreciate all feedback in order to continue improving the way we work with our tutees and parents. We would be very grateful if you could spend 5 minutes of your time completing a short feedback form. Paper copies of the survey are available at our office.

To mark the end of the academic year, on the 30th of June, we invited the parents of our pupils to the Annual Trefoil Tutors Parents’ Social Evening as a way of saying thank you for their support throughout the year.

Held at Blue Ginger restaurant, the evening was a lovely way to get to know the parents of our students better and enjoy an evening of great food and interesting conversations. Parents were also introduced to exciting new features that will be added to our website in the new academic year.

We would like to thank all the parents who attended the event and wish you all a relaxing summer!

As you may know, at the start of the academic year, our students receive a hoodie as part of their welcome packs. In preparation for September, we would like to ask students to help us choose the colour of next year’s hoodies! This week, remember to pick up a sticker from Emilija and cast your vote by sticking it next to the hoodie colour of your choice!

We are delighted to confirm we will be running Mathematics and English mock examinations for pupils who are preparing to sit 11+ entrance examinations to grammar schools in September 2019. The mock examinations are modelled on 11+ entrance examination papers to grammar schools in the area.

We would like to remind all parents of our current students that this is the final week of priority registration for the new academic year of 2019/2020! To book your place for next year’s group lessons, please make sure we receive your payment by the 1stof July. After the 1stof July, all unbooked places will be offered to students on the waiting list on a first-come, first-serve basis.

We are delighted to announce that our office team at Trefoil Tutors has been joined by Maja Djordjic, who has taken on the role of Office Secretary. With extensive experience of managing a busy GP practice as well as running her own business, Maja will be working in our office from Monday to Friday from 9:30am – 1:30pm and will be the first point of contact for all enquiries from new and existing parents.
