As the Spring Term gets under way, we are delighted to welcome over 300 students to our Mathematics, English, Science and Economics lessons.

Week 3 of term brings with it the first assessment of term. In this week's video, our Senior Tutor Vivek and Director of Studies Rebecca remind students of a number techniques for effective revision.

“The feedback we received was brilliant because it gave you an idea of which areas he was struggling with and pointed out specifically what he needed to work on. It helped both Kabir and me, because we were working together as a team - the tutor, the parent and the child. I think that is the best bit and they couldn't have done it better.”

To help students and parents navigate the upcoming weeks with more confidence, the Senior Tutor at Trefoil Tutors, Vivek Gathani, offers his advice for Year 11 and Year 13 students and shares his reflections on the lessons learnt from last year’s experience of dealing with exam cancellations.

As lockdown continues, the BBC have started broadcasting programmes based on the National Curriculum for students in Years 1-9 as well as GCSE-level students.

We are delighted to announce that 12 out of 18 of our candidates who sat the entrance examination to Haberdashers' Aske's Boys' School this year were invited to attend an interview! Very well done, everyone!

With the 11+ entrance examinations nearly done, this week, a number of Independent Schools are starting their interviewing process for 11+ entrance. We would like to wish the best of luck to all candidates who are attending interviews in the upcoming days!

The interview is an exciting opportunity to learn more about the school you are applying for, as well as help the school get to know you – their potential new student!

In this week's Senior Tutor Update, Vivek reflects on what was an extraordinary week for teachers and the education sector as a whole with a return to online lessons and the cancellation of GCSE and A Level examinations.

“Suhan has recently been moved into an accelerated group, where children can learn more as the speed and depth is differentiated for this group of children. That helps Suhan push forward towards his preparations for exams.”

We would like to wish the best of luck to our Year 11 pupils who are taking the Mathematics IGCSE exam tomorrow!

We know you have worked hard preparing for this - therefore, we would like to remind you of our tutors' advice to avoid last-minute cramming. Instead, try to get a good night's sleep and put yourself in a calm and focused mindset - this will allow you to reflect on lessons learnt in the past months as well as make the most of your recent revision.

In this week's Senior Tutor Update, Vivek welcomes students to the Spring Term, with the first two weeks of lessons running online. Vivek goes on to summarise the advice from our manager, Rosie, with regards to lessons running online, as well as advice from Rebecca, our Director of Studies, with regards to making the most of online lessons as we start the new term. Finally, Vivek summarises an email sent to parents last week by our registrar Milda, with regards to registration for lessons in the Spring Term. After a relaxing Christmas break, today we begin our Spring Term. We are excited to welcome all our returning and new students to their lessons! We would like to remind all of our students and parents that following government guidelines, we will be running the first two weeks of lessons online.

In order to help students practise little and often during their holidays in order to keep academic regression at bay, our lead Mathematics, English and Science tutors Vivek, Milda and Rebecca have prepared a set of holiday work assignments for students from Year 4 to Year 13 which are now available to access for free on our website.
