In this week's video, our Senior Tutor Vivek welcomes our students back to the first lessons of the Spring Term and reviews the work done during the Christmas holidays - final 11+ revision and mock examinations, our meetings with parents to review the Autumn Term and holiday practice materials prepared for students on our online portal.

After a relaxing Christmas break, today we begin our Spring Term. We are excited to welcome all our returning and new students to their lessons!

With the 11+ entrance examinations to independent schools taking place in a couple of weeks, we would like to remind parents of the final places available in the upcoming mock examinations that will take place in December and January. As we have received a lot of interest regarding the mock examinations from students who are not attending our lessons, a large number of places in the mock examinations have already been booked.

We would like to remind students and parents that this is the final week of group lessons before the Christmas holidays. After the break, group lessons will resume on the 6th of January. We look forward to seeing everyone for their final lessons this year!

We would like to remind parents of our current students that priority registration for the Spring Term is now open and that our current students' places in the lessons are reserved until the 8th of December. Please do make sure to book your child's place before this date to ensure continuity. Any places that are not booked by this date will be offered to students on the waiting list on a first-come, first-served basis.

At Trefoil Tutors, we value the importance of maintaining an ongoing conversation between parents, tutors and students as a key factor in maintaining tutee progress and development. As the Autumn Term comes to an end, we would therefore like to invite parents to book in a meeting to speak to your child’s tutor and discuss their progress throughout the academic year so far. These meetings will build on the personalised feedback the tutors upload to the online portal every week.

To book your meeting, please log in to the online portal and choose a convenient date and time.

This week, our office manager Milda would like to remind you about the fact that by logging in to our online portal, you are able to change your correspondence preferences and choose which information you would like to receive by email and which messages should be sent to you as online notifications only.

We would like to remind parents that you can choose which information you would like to receive vis email by completing the Preferences section on the online portal.

For all correspondence, we will always send you a notification that will pop-up on the front screen when you login to your online portal. In addition to this, you can choose to receive this information via e-mail. We have chosen for you to receive all information via e-mail by default. Visit the Preferences section on the online portal and untick the information you do not wish to receive via email. It will then come up under the 'Subscribed Notifications' section.

As Year 6 students continue their preparations for sitting 11+ entrance examinations for independent schools in January, our senior tutor Vivek Gathani has prepared a mock 11+ Mathematics paper together with full worked answers. We are delighted to share this with you!

On Monday, 21st October, our tutors participated in a training session titled 'Feedback and Communication'. During the session, our Senior Tutor Vivek, discussed the four types of feedback we provide at Trefoil Tutors (post-lesson debriefs, lesson write-ups, individual student comments online and termly parents' meetings), as well as the importance of delivering high-quality feedback to parents. Keeping all three parties (parents, tutors and students) in the loop with current attainment levels, targets and areas for improvement are vital in ensuring long-term, sustained progress and feedback is an ideal too to do so! We hope the training was beneficial as well as enjoyable!
