In this week’s Senior Tutor Update, Vivek reviews the first Assessment Week of the academic year and reminds students of the good routines we’ve been establishing. Vivek discusses a number of effective revision methods which will be helpful to all our students regardless of their age.

Additionally, our Manager Rosie provides an update on her continuous monitoring of the government guidelines for Covid-19 prevention, in light of the recent changes in advice on social interaction.

At Trefoil Tutors, we believe that effective communication between the tutor, the student and the parents is very important for successful teaching and learning. We are delighted to share the positive feedback contributed by the parents of students who have attended our group lessons and found the feedback provided by our tutors informative and beneficial.

"The homework is always based on what the students have been working on during the lesson, so children can always work independently. The feedback is excellent - the tutors do test children every third week and every sixth week of the half term and they do give feedback to parents so we can work together as well."

We are very excited to announce that our team of tutors is growing! Nik joins us as a Tutor of Mathematics, offering additional Year 9 and Year 10 Mathematics classes to students preparing for the upcoming GCSE examinations.

Nik comes to the Trefoil Tutors team with over 7 years of experience as Teacher of Mathematics at Haberdashers’ Aske’s Boys’ School.

We are delighted to share the positive feedback contributed by the parents of students who have attended our group lessons and found these enjoyable and beneficial to their learning.

In this week’s video, our Senior Tutor Vivek thanks all our parents and students for diligently following our new Covid-19 guidelines and parking regulations.

Our Registrar Milda introduces a new Mathematics tutor Nik who joins our team as a Year 9 and Year 10 teacher. Milda also reminds parents about the possibility to register students for lessons in more than one subject, as well as place siblings’ names on our waiting list if you would like to join our lessons in the future.

In the first Senior Tutor Update of the new academic year, you will meet our senior tutor Vivek and our Manager Rosie. In the video, Vivek introduces the staff who have joined our team at the start of the academic year and reviews the brand new Welcome Booklet, which will guide our students and their parents through the key aspects learning at Trefoil.

Our Manager Rosie walks parents through the Covid-19 provisions we have put in place to keep everyone safe, and reviews the logistics of returning to face-to-face lessons.

After a summer of preparations, today, our team are thrilled to launch the new academic year at Trefoil Tutors.

We are delighted to welcome back our students from last year, and greet new students joining us for the first time. Over the next seven days, we will see 300 students attending their first lessons in Mathematics, Science, English and Economics at Trefoil Tutors.

As students return to classrooms for the new academic year, next week brings a big change to thousands of students who will be making the transition from primary to secondary school this September.

We would therefore like to share our Senior Tutor's advice about making the most of the experience and supporting your son or daughter through this exciting - albeit sometimes daunting - moment of their school life.

In anticipation of the announcement of GCSE Results tomorrow, we would like to extend the same offer to GCSE students who may have questions about their results or their A-level choices.

The summer holidays are an important time for students to take a break and recharge their batteries – at the same time, this year more than ever, parents and teachers alike worry about academic regression which may make the start of the new academic year harder than expected.

To help students tackle this, our senior tutor, Vivek Gathani, has prepared a set of free Mathematics summer revision assignments for students from Year 3 to Year 12 to keep them practising their mathematics regularly. These are written in the same style as the homework assignments students receive at the end of each of our small group lessons at Trefoil Tutors. The assignments are accompanied by corresponding answer sheets.

This week, we are pleased to welcome our Year 5 and Year 12 students back to face-to-face summer lessons in our offices in Elstree.

Over the past weeks, our team have been working hard to create a learning environment that is safe for our students and staff. We have furnished our classrooms with individual desks which are cleaned after each lesson; set up hand sanitising stations; put provisions in place to ensure minimal contact during arrivals and departures to and from lessons; and equipped our tutors with visors which they wear while teaching.

In this week's update, our Senior Tutor Vivek welcomes back our Year 5 and Year 12 students, who are returning to our classrooms on Monday for Mathematics, English and Reasoning summer lessons and shares the first set of Holiday Work.
