Sample Oxford interview questions released

Students applying to study at the University of Oxford next year will be attending their interviews at the start of December. Those currently preparing to be interviewed, or those simply curious about the types of questions that come up in these interviews might find it interesting to have a look at the sample questions the university has recently released in order to make the process more transparent. The questions are categorised by subject and also include comments from university tutors regarding the reasoning behind the questions as well as their expectations from the interviewee.

WINNERS OF THE BREAKTHROUGH PRIZE 2019 ANNOUNCED

Although relatively new initiative, the Breakthrough Prize is one of the largest prizes offered in Science – every year, it awards scientists in Mathematics, Fundamental Physics and Life Sciences for making significant contributions to our understanding of the world. Those of our students who take a particular interest in these fields might find it interesting to look at the winners of the prize and familiarise themselves with the current leading ideas in the science sector!

This year, winners were celebrated for breakthroughs in gene therapy, discovery of a new class of electronic materials and developments in mathematical theory.

THE INDEPENDENT SCHOOLS SHOW
